What makes the RT-5Sa more accurate than any other laser? Well, it starts with its total station-based encoder system. Topcon has led the industry and the world in developing the most accurate Surveying products. And that's where the RT-5Sa starts. Using the same super-accurate encoder mechanism found in Topcon's line of total stations, the RT-5Sa is the first laser to break the 5 arc second accuracy berrier (1/32" of an inch deviation in 100').

But Topcon's revolutionary encoder system is only part of the accuracy equation. Temperature fluctuation is another obstacle to long-range laser accuracy. Again, Topcon met the challenge by putting every RT-5Sa through a cycle of temperature fluctuations and recording each units individual characteristics. This digital information is then written back into each RT-5Sa's software allowing it to reference these recorded fluctuations from a database and automatically compensate for changes in temperature in the field.

The RT-5Sa also features the removable RC-300 remote to allow full operation and security for your RT-5Sa. From distances up to 300 feet, the RC-300's convenient backlit LCD display make it easy to control the RT-5Sa under any conditions for the entire 6 month life of the batteries. What's more, with the RC-300 removed from the laser, there's no chance of anyone else changing grade or using the laser. It's the ultimate in security.

The RC-300 remote also provides two-way communication. That means you can control the laser while the laser communicates battery life, and other information right to you for hassle-free control… Only from Topcon.

For fast, accurate setup, Topcon incorporated a version of their patented SmartLine™ system. SmartLine™ lets you match the previous days grade simply and quickly. Simply sight in a control point and place the target at your farthest alignment point. Use the remote to tell the RT-5Sa where the target is, and the beam scans until it finds the target. The RT-5Sa will scan the beam to the target's exact center and resumes rotation. That's it. You're right where you left off the day before and ready to go to work.

The control panel for the RT-5Sa is actually the RC-300 remote. Simply remove the remote from the RT-5Sa after set-up and you're in complete control of the RT-5Sa from up to 300' away. All functions of the RT-5Sa are accessible from the remote, and each remote can be programmed to use any one of 9 different channels so if there are two RT-5Sa's on the site, there's no accidental changes being made to the wrong laser.
